A beautiful Heritage hotel run by Mr. Bascarane and his wife. They are one of the nicest people you can come across, ever so friendly and welcoming. The hotel is a "home stay" in their ancestral home. It is two storied and has about 5 rooms in all. Every nook and corner has been tastefully done up with vintage brass articles.utensils, antique furniture, Tanjore Paintings, Vintage calendar art. Its so beautiful and takes you back to a bygone era... The breakfast at this place is awesome and the staff are ever smiling and friendly. Its located in the French Quarter and has great accessibility to the beach and other eating places in the area. A must visit, when you want to stay at Pondicherry.

Decor Ideas Xmas 2012

A little arrangement for the seasonA little arrangement for the seasonLittle Santa on a "chai wala holder with glasses, which also doubles to place flowers or candles

Decor IDeas Xmas 2012, a set on Flickr.
Its December! And I love this season. Its time to start creating small arrangements around the house !

"Deck the halls with bells of holly..."Oh well, one of my "prized" possessions is a tea glass holder that we see Chai waalahs(Tea Vendor) use when they need to deliver "shot glasses of tea". My little Santa sits in with a few flowers arranged in the cups. Quirky markers can also be message boards or name tags for people around a table. I sure hope to come up with more ideas..

tis the season to be jolly...shalaaalalala lalalala

I love Natural fabrics. I love home washable linen. Just had an idea and wanted to refurbish an old faded quilt. What better way than with a Cotton Sungadi Saree(its extremely soft) There are areas in the home where one doesn't really need to cover up with thick curtains, so sheer ones will do. One such area is the dining/living area in our home. One saree made for two door length curtains. Ask your local tailor to make a little stitch on the top and the bottom. Split the pallu into two, and voila two identical sized curtains ready!

Our double quilt needed two sarees, one for either side..I love the deep blue and red combination!

Changing bedroom decor can be fun especially if you can change it with the seasons' colours. With the holidays and the winter here, its fun to include these colours via linen, and accessories.

Mu favourites are Jewel tones and Blue..Two different looks

Happy Deepavali 2012

Diwali has always been a childhood favourite among festivals. The house cleaning,. the new clothes, the fireworks, the lit up lamps..Just pure happiness.  This year as we celebrate it part in our home and part in my inlaws home. Here's what we did to do up the place.

New Clothes  for Diwali which will be handed over by family elders.

A little Diya arrangement with my Ganesha and  frangipanis in a bowl

The Paavai Vilakku (lady with the lamp) holds a tea light
Assorted of colourful Glass tea lights and tea light holder in red, that we got from good old Ikea to hold the light when it is windy
Bright colours in the bedroom fushias, orange and Jewel tones for the festival season

Brass Lamps Polished and lit up. My little board wishing everyone a Happy Deepavali
